Charlotte is teeming with sites, museums and monuments to its USA and Civil War history. And beyond the booming new financial district’s skyscrapers (would personally skip), the exquisite 19th-century Queen Anne houses in historic Uptown’s Fourth Ward will draw you back in time, while a visit to the Levine Museum of the New South places the history of the Carolinas in a wider context. The picturesque Dilworth neighborhood is also worth exploring and if you’re looking to be in the coolest part of town, head to NoDa, the North Davidson Art district. Charlotte has 100 neighborhoods, and each one is a little different. The inner (older) ones like NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Elizabeth, West End, have grassroots shops and culture.
