Trastevere is a wonderful area in general to stay. Close enough to young bars as well as the centre, but not totally overrun by tourists. You’ll find lots of Airbnbs options, or for charming family-run boutique hotels check out picturesque Hotel Santa Maria or quirky riverside villa Domus Monami or the Donna Camilla Savelli set in a 17th century monastery. For an affordable slice of modern luxury in the neighorhood, try Una Hotel or guesthouse Palazzo Baj.
Alternatively, we also like the area in Regola around the Piazza Pasquino (Airbnb filter here) where you’ll find small shops, antique dealers, galleries, restaurants, cafés and meeting points for the young artists and creatives of the capital. Right on the piazza Pasquino you’ll also find G-Rough Suites – a 17th century home converted into 10 suites & apartments.
