How about going underground? To the catacombs museum or the Musee des Egouts (sewers museum – promise it’s not smelly and way more interesting than you’d think!)
Other museums with AC of possible interest (that aren’t the major museums):
The Atelier de Lumières (10eme)
The Musee Arts et Metiers (3eme)Le musée de la magie & Musée des automates (3eme)
Musee de la Chasse (3eme)
Hotel de la Marine (1st)
Musee Bourdelle (15eme)
The aquarium de Paris (16eme)
La Grande Galerie d’Evolutions (Paris Natural History Museum) 5eme next to Messy Nessy’s Cabinet – closed Tuesday
Le musée de la Préfecture de Police (crime museum next to Messy Nessy’s Cabinet!)
Not a museum, but an Art Nouveau masterpiece, walk around the Samaritaine department store, a little less crowded than Le Bon Marché and certainly Galeries Lafayette.
Swimming!
The Josephine Baker public outdoor pool along the Seine.
Piscine de Pontoise Art Deco public pool.
The iconic pool at Piscine Molitor is open to hotel guests, club members, and those who have booked an Escale Molitor at the spa. So if you’re looking to swim, book a massage and enjoy the rest of the incredible amenities the hotel offers (pools, steam room, sauna, fitness room). Check this link for more information.
Why not try swimming in the Seine! At the base of Pont de Sully facing the Ile Saint Louis there’s a controlled swimming area that will be open from July 5th. There are also air mist “showers” on the Paris Plages if you’d rather not get your swimming costume.
A few ideas for Air conditioned eateries:
Around the Louvre, hang around in a hotel lobby with character and cool off with some ice teas and snacks at Hotel Regina, one of the old palace hotels that still feels like an old grand dame.
La Rotisserie d’Argent is classic bistrot with great views and Kitchen Terre does amazing things with pasta, both near Messy Nessy’s Cabinet with great views.
Alcazar does a great brunch in the 6th and Les Editeurs is classic local’s spot. Le Vagenende is an under the radar bistrot hiding one of the most beautifully preserved Art Nouveau dining rooms in Paris.
Restaurant Boubalé in the Marais
Le Coq Rico specialises in French chicken like you’ve never eaten it before.
Caché – a secret restaurant in an old button factory in the 20th
Head to the cinema! Le Champo is my favourite vintage picture house and it has AC (like most cinemas in Paris).
