Awkward Family Photos: Then & Now

By

27th Dec, 2011

As yet another year comes to a close and we wonder where the time went, I thought this photostory ,”Back to the Future” by Irina Werning couldn’t be more appropriate. It also happens to be that time of year when a lot of us are back home with families, and in the post-Christmas lull we do things like look at old photo albums and dig up things from our childhood.

In her ongoing project inviting people to go back to the future with her camera, Irina admits to being a nosey photographer. “As soon as I step into someone else’s house, I start sniffing for them.”

What is perhaps even more fascinating than the changing or unchanging faces of her subjects is her attention to detail in re-creating the clothes, the poses and the backgrounds of the original photos.

“This project made me realise Im a bit obsessive…”.
