Ski season is upon us and naturally it’s all about the sport, and not at all about getting that perfect Facebook profile picture of yourself looking effortlessly stylish on the slopes. No siree!

Just like these fine young folks who took a trip to Sun Valley, Idaho in 1946, we’re all about the best protective clothing, the best equipment and none of this après ski lounging around business catching rays and enjoying winter picknicks…

Where’s the fun in that?

Photographs captured by George Silk, photographer for 30 years at LIFE magazine and four-time recipient of ‘magazine photographer of the year’ award by the National Press Photographers Association.
